Ella is the Books reporter at The Guardian and a freelance politics and culture writer. Her articles have appeared in i-D, POLITICO Magazine, Polyester Zine and Washington Monthly. She has also freelanced at BBC Radio 4.

In 2023, Ella won The Guardian's Hugo Young award for an essay about end-of-life care in the UK. In 2018, she was shortlisted for the Guild of Health Writers young journalist award.

Ella grew up in Devon and studied at the London School of Economics and Columbia Journalism School.
